The GWA Chamber of Commerce, proudly serving common economic growth, business interests and community development in the Towns of Wheatland, Caledonia and Surrounding Areas of Western New York State is pleased to share support for the for the application from NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) for 2026 Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) funding for vital upgrades to Genesee Valley Greenway State Park (GVGSP) in Livingston County.

This Project will resurface 9.2 miles of trail, repair eleven culverts, install crosswalks, detectable warnings and other traffic calming methods at seven road intersections in Livingston County from York Landing Parking Area in Piffard, to Route 36 Parking Area in Mt Morris/Leicester. In addition, opportunities to add essential amenities such as wayfinding, trail counters, horse mounts, hitching posts, and bicycle racks will be explored. This project puts the state park in the last stretch of closing the largest gap in the northern half of its 90-miles. Livingston County is home to over 40% of the entire trail and currently offers minimal public transportation options. Funding for Phase 4 will ultimately provide a 32-mile, ADA compliant, long-range off-road corridor, connecting Mt Morris to Rochester for work, school, trips to the market or just to explore.
